Product Description

Our Bond House No. 1 Single Malt Whiskies have been created and long-matured at our distillery. The Bond Warehouse No. 1 was the largest of Glenmorangie' s traditional 19th century warehouses and in 1990 it became our stillhouse, the heart of our whisky creation. The exclusive Glenmorangie releases from Bond House No. 1 are exceptionally smooth, complex and elegant. Our Grand Vintage Malt 1991 is mellow and fruity. It is marked with its year of creation and marked for greatness. Resonant with the gravitas of its years, the 1991 offers a nose of intense depth, laden with orchard fruits, a hint of oak and suggestions of truffles and star anise. From a peppery mouthfeel, tastes of stewed apples, plums, cherries and raspberries emerge, swathed in milk chocolate. Finally, citrus notes ripple through fruit and sweet spices in a long, ever-changing finish. An exquisite single malt to be savoured and enjoyed. Bond House No. 1 From their origin years, the exclusive whiskies of Glenmorangie's Vintage Collection, Bond House No. 1, were marked for greatness. Yet only the Highland Distillery's skilful whisky creators could capture such remarkable vintages in their prime. And only at their behest, is each deemed ready to share. The Collection's fourth release, Glenmorangie Vintage Malt 1991, exudes a mellow fruitiness that befits its years. Created from the union of profoundly different whiskies, its pummy depths memorialize the impassioned few who that year redoubled their cues for perfection. Their scholarship, in search of ever-greater results, has inspired Glenmorangie ever since. Tribute Created for the delight of connoisseurs and collectors, the Bond House No. 1 Collection pays homage to its namesake, the largest of Glenmorangie's traditional 19th-century bonded warehouse. For generations, Bonded Warehouse No. 1 served as home to Glenmorangie's maturing whisky casks, patiently sheltering them in its depths, on the banks of the beautiful Dornoch Firth. Transformation In 1990, its purpose was to change entirely, as Bonded Warehouse No. 1 was transformed into rhe majestic still house, today renowned as "Glenmorangie's Highland cathedral." Inside, at the very heart of the Distillery's whisky creation, now stand Glenmorangie's signature copper stills -- the tallest in Scotland. Their towering stature ensures that the vapours travel the long distance to the top to create Glenmorangie's smoother, more elegant spirit. Dedication Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1991 arose from one of the Distillery's most formative times, when extra-maturation was in its infancy. Alive to the possibilities of the wood finish, Glenmorangie's whisky creators secluded themseleves in the Distillery's quietest reaches, devoted to furthering their craft. Years later, inspired by their diligence, Dr. Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie's Director of Distilling and Whisky Creation, would single out two parcels of 1991 spirit, for a whisky celebrating those who dare to wonder what might be... Foresight Long matured in ex-bourbon casks, each of these parcels was honoured with a finish lasting more than a decade. From the finest ex-oloroso sherry casks, one gained a wonderful spice and sweetness. And although its character seemed utterly incongruous with the bold meat and truffle notes of the parcel held within former burgundy casks, Dr. Bill saw something extraordinary. With a master distiller's flair, he married these parcels with the softest hint of spirit finished in new toasted oak. This final finesse brought their powerful characters together in implausible harmony. Fulfilment His creation is a monument to that era of commintted study, which still guides Glenmorangie's expertise in wood today. Confounding expectation with its rare assemblage, this 26-year-old single malt whisky displays all the mellow depth that the most accomplished ageing can bring. Its rich, plummy intensity, overlaying the familiar subtleties of the Distillery's house style, commands the connoisseur's regard. Colour The ochre tones of Glenmorangie's Grand Vintage Malt 1991 marvellously recall the bold contrasts contained within its marriage of casks. Aroma Laden with apricots, plums and baked apples, this fruity nose is deep and mellow. Then chocolate and the gentlest hint of oak emerge, with suggestions of truffles and star anise. Taste A subtly peppery texture heralds a surge of ripe fruits, such as cherry, raspberry, plum and stewed apples, swathed in an abundance of milk chocolate. Finish The spirit's signature citrus notes ebb and flow alongside waves of fruit, sweet spices and oak drawn from its journey to maturity, in a long and undulating finish. The fourth exceptionally fine and smooth whisky from the Bond House No. 1 Collection. Bottled in 2018
