While Shinji perfected the subtle art of Japanese blending for a new era of Japanese Whisky, on the other side of the Pacific Ocean, Fred mastered his craft throughthe family tradition of creating the classic bold American Bourbon. United by curiosity for each other's traditions and passion, together they set out to progress the world of whiskey through collaboration -- and Legent was born. But as Fred and Shinji's inspiration advanced, Legent evolved. Determined to continue pushing both their own mastery and the limits of Kentucky whiskey through Japanese blending, Fred and Shinji created Legent Yamazaki Cask Finish Blend -- an exceptionally unique and extremely rare expression finished, blended and perfected in exquisite casks at the award-winning Yamazaki Distillery. Beginning as a superb Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, crafted from American grain by Fred in Clermont, Kentucky. Making its way across the Pacific, arriving in the forested hills of the Yamazaki Distillery near Kyoto, Japan, the two distinct traditions started to become one. There, Shinji precisely matured the Kentucky whiskey in French oak wine casks and Spanish oak sherry casks, carefully chosen to impart rich notes and a vivid spiced finish. All the while, absorbing the subtle temperatures and specific climate of the misty woodlands that enclose the renowned Japanese distillery -- and then history was made. True to theur ambition to take Kentucky Whiskeybeyond, Fred and Shinji specially selected ex-Yamazaki sherry casks in which to finish an additional reserve of whiskey. These exceptional casks were hand-chosen to introduce an outstanding third dimension of a full-bodied malty depth, imbue nuanced complexity and reveal sophisticated layers within the liquid that would otherwise remain hidden. Finally, the three uniquely finished batches were artfully blended with some of the original Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky before returning home to Clermont to be bottled as an extraordinary expression designed by a harmonious and complex balance of oaky warmth, smooth brightness and a distinctly long finish.
